Filming at the Chiswick Oasis

One of the recent highlights was attending an event in Chiswick, where Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan took part in opening the Chiswick Oasis at the St. Mary’s School.

School children, parents and teachers gathered to celebrate unveiling a 400 foot ‘green wall’ installed in the playground to counteract the air pollution. The most amazing part of the story is that it was all made possible by one parent Andrea Carnevali, who was worried about the levels of air pollution in the school his son attended. He took matters in his own hands and fundraised £100,000 to install the living wall of over 120,000 plants. His initiative received celebrity endorsements, corporate sponsorships and funding from the Mayor of London. It was a deeply inspiring example of civic action and community coming together to make a real change on a local level.

I had a pleasure of capturing the day as it unfolded with lots of family activities and Mayor arriving, speaking on stage, inspecting the green wall and unveiling a commemorative plaque. I’m proud I managed to convince him to do a mini interview for the project I was filming, which is something I will remember for a long time!
